DANCE FLOORING: kiwiFLOOR™ Information for Architects
The construction of the kiwiFLOOR™ consists of three (3) layers:
[1] The subfloor surface layer is 3/4" OSB (Oriented Strand Board) screwed down along its perimeter at 6" centers.
[2] The interior of the kiwiFLOOR™ rests on 3/4" x 6" wide Plywood sleepers along all joints.
[3] The plywood sleepers rest on 1" thick closed cell 2.2# foam pads, varying from 4" to 8” x 6, attached using high strength/low temperature hot melt adhesive. Sleeper joints are offset of panel joints by 1'.
As needed a 4 to 6 mil Vapor barrier is laid down prior to the installation of the kiwiFLOOR™ The perimeter of the kiwiFLOOR™ consists of 2"x4" sleepers, on 1/4" weep pads, permanently attached to the existing subfloor on 16” centers. The kiwiFLOOR™ can be leveled to compensate for uneven or sloped floors. Egresses can be ramped at ADA compliant 1:12 or greater slopes.
